The Symposium features a four day symposium from September 23rd to 26th including 2 half day workshops, a field trip to aggregate sites in the Lower Mainland, two full days of in-person and online Technical Sessions, the Annual Awards banquet and networking opportunities.

On Monday, September 23rd, two half-day facilitated workshops will be provided:

Morning Session:

Developing a Design Basis Memorandum for Reclamation and Closure Planning by Integral Ecology Group and Okane Consultants from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

Afternoon Session:

Applications of Enhanced Passive Treatment in Mining by Maven Water and Environment from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

Each Workshop registration includes a refreshment break and lunch.

We also request audiovisual materials of reclamation efforts at your BC mine operation(s) for use at the Symposium. We are asking for confirmation of participation including completion of attached submission form by June 30th, 2024, and submission of footage by September 6th, 2024, to allow time for video compilation and production. On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the annual mine tour will be held:

Location: Abbotsford, BC (departure from Delta Hotel Burnaby Conference Centre)
Time: Approximately 9:00am-5:00pm (exact time to be confirmed)
Includes: All transportation from the Delta Hotels Burnaby Conference Centre, boxed lunch, and snacks (breakfast not included)

As a reminder, last year the Jake McDonald Annual Mine Reclamation Award was awarded to Imperial Metals – Mount Polley Mine and Habitat Remediation Working Group, for the remediation of Hazeltine and Edney creeks following the breach of the Mount Polley Mine tailings storage facility in 2014.
